Eley Surface Plates are produced by Crown Windley Limited, the UK’s leading specialist in the field of granite metrology products. We have been at the forefront of the metrology industry for over 100 years and understand the necessity of maintaining accurate granite measuring equipment.

Through our UKAS-approved laboratory, we are accredited to issue traceable certification for granite surface plates to BS817/2008, master straight edges to BS5204, master squares to BS939, and coordinate measuring machines to ISO10360/2.

Do I Need a Certificate

Over 95% of surface plates and tables sold to a graded specification require a traceable certificate of calibration issued in accordance with BS 817 (2008) and supported by a UKAS-accredited laboratory. Eley Metrology by Crown Windley can supply the required certification at the point of purchase. Through our extensive after-sales services, our engineers can also maintain your plates to ensure they remain at their original specifications.

Certification Options

We offer the option to include certification with your surface plate order, ensuring immediate usability upon delivery. Choose from a UKAS Certificate of Calibration or an Eley Metrology Certificate of Calibration. This service provides several key advantages:

  • Instant Operational Readiness: Your certified surface plate is ready for use as soon as it arrives, eliminating downtime associated with post-delivery certification processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Pre-delivery certification confirms that your surface plate meets rigorous industry standards, guaranteeing its accuracy and reliability from day one.
  • Compliance Adherence: Certified surface plates help maintain compliance with industry regulations, support your quality control processes, and potentially aid in audit preparations.
  • Enhanced Operational Efficiency: By eliminating the need for separate certification arrangements, you can streamline your procurement and implementation processes, saving valuable time and resources.
  • Traceability: Certification documentation provided at the point of purchase establishes a clear record of your surface plate’s accuracy, supporting your quality management system.
  • Confidence in Measurements: Using a certified surface plate from the outset ensures consistent, accurate measurements, which is critical for precision engineering and quality control applications.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Combining certification with your purchase may offer cost savings compared to arranging certification separately, both in terms of the service itself and by avoiding potential operational delays.

By choosing certification at the point of order, you’re investing in your metrology equipment’s immediate and long-term performance, supporting your commitment to precision and quality in your operations.
